Head of Procurement & Warehouse

About the Role
SBFM is looking for an experienced Head of Procurement & Warehouse to join our business and take ownership of our procurement strategy and warehouse operations.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for driving cost efficiency, supplier performance and operational excellence across our procurement function, while also leading the end-to-end operation of our new logistics hub in Eltham.
You will oversee the procurement of goods and services, with a particular focus on cleaning materials and equipment, managing supplier relationships, negotiating competitive pricing and ensuring strong commercial control. Alongside this, you will have full responsibility for the warehouse operation, covering goods-in, bottling, stock control, picking, packing and the on-time delivery of stock and consumables to our client sites.
Working closely with Operations, Account Managers, Legal and other internal stakeholders, you will ensure our procurement and warehouse activities support both our commercial objectives and the needs of our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities

Own and implement procurement and warehouse strategies that drive cost savings, efficiency and operational performance

Manage supplier selection, negotiation, contracts and ongoing supplier performance across strategic and preferred suppliers

Lead competitive tendering activity and maintain competitive pricing across all procurement categories

Use SBFM's buying power to negotiate favourable commercial terms and identify opportunities for further savings

Ensure on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery of equipment, stock and consumables to client sites, with clear visibility of orders and deliveries

Take full ownership of warehouse operations, including goods-in, bottling, packing, labelling, picking, packing and despatch

Oversee the bottling and labelling of cleaning chemicals, ensuring appropriate processes and regulatory compliance are maintained

Translate client site stock and consumption information into accurate and efficient ordering requirements

Manage inventory and stock levels to minimise working capital while maintaining product availability

Lead, develop and support the warehouse team, including recruitment, performance management and training

Maintain accurate procurement and warehouse policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards, including COSHH

Monitor market trends, supply chain risks and opportunities, identifying alternative products and innovative solutions where appropriate

Work closely with Account Managers, Operations and site-level teams to ensure procurement and warehouse activities support client requirements and customer satisfaction

Drive sustainability, ESG and ethical sourcing initiatives across procurement activity

Monitor key procurement and warehouse performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Qualifications and Skills

Proven experience in procurement, supply chain, warehouse and/or logistics management

Strong understanding of procurement, supply chain, inventory and warehouse management principles

Experience managing supplier relationships, contracts, negotiations and supplier performance

Experience leading warehouse operations, including goods-in, pick, pack, despatch and stock control

Experience managing, developing and motivating a warehouse team

Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost control and working capital management

Excellent negotiation and contract management skills

Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
-
A degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management and/or CIPS qualification is highly desirable

Experience within a fast-paced, multi-site environment would be advantageous
-
Knowledge of COSHH, compliance and sustainable procurement practices would be beneficial
